Through my military history, I have learned that successful military outcomes required a strategic planning approach that effectively harmonized three essential elements: Ends (objectives), Ways (the vision and processes to accomplish on your ends), and Means (the resources and capabilities required to achieve your desired objective state).
Over the years, I have gained a different appreciation for strategic planning, based on a common 5-step approach:
At Switch Strategic Consulting, I will work to create a personal and trusted relationship with my clients to best understand their strategic goals for the company or organization. Similar to martial arts (Tai Chi), strategic planning requires the ability to adapt and adjust to elements facing your environment to achieve balance and differentiation.
“All men can see these tactics whereby I conquer, but what none can see is the strategy out of which victory is evolved.”
Sun Tzu
I will advise and coach clients on important business decisions by providing strategic consulting advice. I believe in the importance of providing advice and recommendations based on common business and/or organizational best practices. That is why I believe in continuous learning because it can challenge common institutional biases and provide a diverse perspective, set of methodologies, and approaches for addressing strategic risk.
To that end, I am currently enrolled in a CEO program at Columbia University Business School for Executive Education. Leveraging the world-class learning environment and network at Columbia provides me with access to some of the greatest business minds and leaders in the world. In the CEO Program, I will have the opportunity to collaborate with nearly 30 CEOs from around the globe. I will incorporate best practices learned from the program to better advise my clients.
At Switch Strategic Consulting, I believe that business development is a process aimed at growing a company and making it more successful. That can include seeking new business opportunities, building and sustaining connections with existing clients, entering strategic partnerships, and devising other plans to boost profits and market share.
There are 4 key business development benefits:
It is impossible to progress without change, and those who do not change their minds cannot change anything. – George Bernard Shaw.
